I love good Southern cooking/homestyle and the one I'd pick if I could eat one style of cuisine the rest of my life: fried chicken, chicken and waffles, biscuits and gravy (with sausage gravy or "mater" gravy), macaroni in casserole form, greens that have been fried up with meat or just fried (green beans, turnip greens, collard greens, okra, poke salad, etc.), carrots with brown sugar, game meat (venison, rabbit, etc.), sweet potatoes, fried eggs, grits, peanut soup, wilted lettuce or sometimes called "kill the salad", desserts like cobbler, pie, homemade candy, banana pudding, .
I also enjoy British cooking like mushy peas, corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie, etc.
I love spicy food: Italian, Latin American, Southwestern, Cajun. I like jambalaya, chicken alfredo, pizza, pasta, nachos, etc.
I'll try about anything once, but I like my cooking plain. Don't like condiments or sauces like mayo, vinegar, etc (the exception being tomato or cheese based). Don't eat a lot of seafood either, but I like finding restaurants that are unique or offering unique limited time dishes. I hardly ever cook or eat the same dish twice.
Very passionate about my food as you can probably tell and not overweight despite all the food I just listed.
As far as restaurants go, I frequent a lot of local places. I think they try harder to compete with chains and their food is better because the ingredients are more natural and homemade. One of my favorites is a place that makes unique soups every week and it also doubles as a bookstore. And a pizza place that makes incredible and exceptional pizzas named after locals sites, a gelato shop that makes their gelato in the shop with natural ingredients. I love The Virginia Diner if we happen to be passing through that area as it has the most amazing peanut pie.
As far as chains go, I like Cracker Barrel. Their products and clothing in the store are so cute and up my alley. Their food is good as well. I like Chick-fil-a. Amazing chicken and appreciate that the company honors the Sabbath and donates to and supports local charities. Steak n' Shake, at least the ones that are sit down restaurants because I love their chili spaghetti which you can only find in the Ohio and WV area.
I could wax on about food and restaurants, but I won't lol.
