In large bowl, beat butter, 1/2 cuppowdered sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium until wellmixed. On low speed, beat in flour, salt and almonds.For each cookie, shape scant measuring tablespoonful dough aroundchocolate star to make 1-inch ball. Place 2 inches apart on ungreasedbaking sheets.Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until set and bottoms begin to turn goldenbrown. Meanwhile in a small bowl, mix 1 cup powdered sugar with redand green sugars.Immediately remove cookies from baking sheets. Roll in sugarcoating. Cool completely on wire racks, about 30 minutes. Roll insugar coating again.
