This is another fun thread if you like reading, like I do. Right now I'm reading the children's book The Familiars, which is written by Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson and published in 2010. This is the first book in a series of four, and the fourth novel will be out in bookstores in December. I had never even heard of these books, but I was browsing through one of my favorite bookstores like 2 weeks ago, and came upon a really cute book with a black and white cat on the cover. Naturally, given my cat obsession, I picked it up, read the synopsis, and was immediately intrigued. The story is told from the POV of Aldwyn, an orphaned alley cat, who gets adopted by an apprentice wizard named Jack. The story follows the life of Aldwyn and two other familiars - Skylar the blue-jay and Gilbert the tree frog. The reading level and interesting, magical plot definitely appeal to me as an adult, and I find the book utterly charming. I look forward to reading this book and getting to the next one. I also look forward to the animated movie adaptation which is currently scheduled for release in 2014. Anyhow enough about me, what about the rest of you? Post about what you're reading right now, for school, pleasure, etc, and have fun! ~Shaliza

That sounds like a good book!
I am reading The Stand by Stephen King. I would have finished by now if it weren't for my studies. Needless to say it is a fantastic book.

Well, I've got three books on the floor of my room from the library last week. I started with Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. So far, so good. Just wish I could read more

Magical quests? Sounds very interesting. I am now onto another Stephan King novel, called 11.22.63. It's time travel so totally up my alley. It's another big one, but I am already almost a quarter of the way through and I started yesterday.

I finished reading The Royal Ranger last night, and today I started reading The Sandman and the War of Dreams. It's the fourth book in William Joyce's Guardians series. These are the books that the movie Rise of the Guardians was based on.

I finished reading The Sandman and the War of Dreams last night, and now I'm reading a Star Wars book by John Jackson Miller called Kenobi. It tells of Obi-Wan Kenobi's life between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, and Episode IV: A New Hope.

^ Nice! Sounds like a great book! BTW, if you like Star Wars, feel free to post in the movie thread I made in the Sci-Fi/Supernatural forum! I'm currently reading Jinx by Sage Blackwood. Lately I've been in the mood to read fantasy and magical novels for young adults, and so far, I'm definitely enjoying the hair-raising adventures of Jinx, while he muddles his way through being a wizard's apprentice. ~Shaliza

I finished reading Kenobi today, and now I'm reading another Star Wars book. This one is by Ian Doescher, and is called William Shakespeare's Star Wars Verily, A New Hope. It's basically the script for the first Star Wars movie, A New Hope, rewritten in Shakespearian English. (And yes, you read that correctly. )
