Over the years there have been films I have obsessed over, re-watched or just loved every second of. In recent years these have become fewer and further between until I find it hard to remember what the last one I felt that way about was. So...
What was the last film you really loved?
What was the last original film you wanted everyone to watch? (so not a re-make or something you read the book of)
What's still your favourite go to movie?

Nice idea for a thread, LouiseX. The last film I watched, that I adored, was Dead Men Tell No Tales. After POTC 4 which was a disappointment to me, this movie was a pleasant surprise and reminded me of why I loved these movies in the first place. So I saw it 5 times in the theater and can't wait for the DVD! I haven't seen an original film in a long time, so I can't give you my favorite for that. As for my favorite go-to movie, it would have to be Clueless. It's short enough for me to watch even after a long workday, and it's so witty that I'm in fits of giggles from start to finish and my mood improves instantly! What about the rest of you? The last one I saw that I thought was terrific was The Shawshank Redemption, which I saw a couple of months ago. If we're only talking about movies I've seen in a cinema, I think you'd have to go back to Rush (2013), but that's just me being a biased Formula One fan .

Right now that movie would probably have to be Marvel's The Avengers. The last forty five minutes or so always has me grinning non stop. Although the second movie on that list would likely be Stephen Chow's Kung Fu Hustle, a Kung Fu gangland crime movie / parody. Like The Princess Bride and Shrek, it actually embraces the very genre it satirizes.
Years ago, it used to be Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan, but I've watched that movie so many times it no longer entertains me like it used to. The price of heavy re-watching.
Though I should mention that I recently watched Gremlins on Netflix. After many, many years it was even more fun than I remembered.

Oh man that's tough. I recently saw Wonder Woman and Spider-Man: Homecoming (MCU fan here haha) and I would definitely say they're pretty darn amazing despite being complete different in tone, setting, and message.
But the one I truly loved and have rewatched over and over since first seeing it would have to be Disney's Moana. The animation, the setting, Moana's character being so relate able to my own life crisis, the music, the Rock being the Rock, I loved every minute from beginning to end and have watched like 10 times now lol. It's also not based of one concrete thing (like Grim's Fairytales) but a myriad of Polynesian Legends about Maui the Demigod.
My go to movie will forever be Disney's Mulan. Mulan is my role model since I was a child, the music is catchy, and I just love how much she kicks butt and stays true to who she believes she is.

I also saw DMTNT 5 times Shaliza, it's much better than the last one that came out in 2011 On Stranger Tides.

The last movie I saw that I really loved was What We Do in the Shadows, a mockumentary about vampires (the only kind of vampire movie I like).

The last movie I really loved (that was newest to me, that is) is Beauty and the Beast 2017. I loved the animated version, but the live action managed not only to save what was beautiful about the original, but also add a wonderful fresh take on the story.

Same here- I loved the movie and even though I was not sure at first that Emma Watson could be Belle, she grew on me. It was the other characters that won over my heart. I would love to see a sequel to it so the story would not end!

Great thread LouiseX. The last movie I really, really loved was Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 I went to the cinema with a couple of friends and we really enjoyed it. It was one of the best evenings I've had and I came home buzzing But that did have a lot to do with the fact that I went to the cinema with friends for the 1st time since Stuart Little 2 came out back in 2002 lol. But the movie was so funny and Baby Groot was so cute and stole every scene he was in I'm counting down the days until the dvd is out on September 4th hehe.

That's funny in a way because it was watching that film that inspired this thread, but not because I loved it. Not that I hated it or anything, but after it finished my reaction was, 'I need to watch a really good film'. I'll try to put real feedback about it in the appropriate thread at some point.

Spider-Man: Homecoming. Incidentally, also the last film I watched. I was completely engrossed and in my happy space while watching. Can't think of anything right now for the second question, but my go-to movie is either Leap Year or Only You. I'm actually not a huge fan of rom-coms, but these ones are great when I've had a rough time of things and just want to unwind with something fun and light-hearted. I miss my movie collection.

The last film I really LOVED, was Mary Poppins Returns. It was the ultimate feel good movie that had me humming its tunes as I left the theater.
