I know there are different categories to discuss individual movies by type, but I thought it would also be fun to have a thread for brief descriptions of great movies any of us has recently seen and would like to recommend to others.
I'll start with recommending "The Miracle Worker." It's an old black-and-white movie about Helen Keller and Anne Sullivan, based on the Broadway play.

^ Great idea for a thread, Disney! I will definitely check out The Miracle Worker and hopefully soon. I looked up the trailer on YouTube and it was inspiring and thought provoking. I would like the recommend The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and there is already a thread for that in the Drama section. This is one of the best comedies that I've seen in a long time, and with Maggie Smith and Judi Dench heading the start-studded cast, this is hardly surprising. It takes place in India, with a majestic landscape, and tells the story of a number of elderly people who are given a second chance at life and love. The sequel just came out last week, and I made a thread for it too. Can't wait to see it, because if it's anything like its predecessor, then it promises to be an instant winner as well. ~Shaliza

Thanks, Shani.
I also recommend Sunset Blvd. It's pretty intense, but well done. It explores the darker side of Hollywood, and stars William Holden and Gloria Swanson.

I would like to recommend Mamma Mia. It's the ultimate feel good, bubbly movie with an amazing, star-studded cast. I made a thread for it in Musicals, and would love to chat about it with you. Being a fan of ABBA music for as along as I can remember, it was nice to have a movie version of the famous Broadway musical. If you haven't already seen it, you're definitely missing out! ~Shaliza

I would like to recommend the Harry Potter Series. All eight movies. It may be an ordinary suggestion but it's a grand one. For those that haven't seen these movies def. need to. For those that have come on now...Harry Potter Marathons are the bomb. Get some popcorn, get some candy, get some soda and relax into the wonderful world of magic.

I watched Pixels, it's a great, funny action movie for anyone who liked playing old arcade games.

Warm Bodies... a heartwarming zombie love story. I know how that sounds but it's actually very funny, very gross and rather sweet. Definitely one to make you smile

Rear Window. It's my favorite Hitchcock movie. It's been a while since I've seen it, but I have seen several sporcle mentions of it and it kind of made me want to see it again. James Stewart plays a man with a broken leg who is a witness to a murder crime in a neighbor's apartment. Also stars Grace Kelly.

I highly recommend The Man. It is a brilliant action comedy staring Eugene Levy and Samuel L Jackson. Andy Fidler (Eugene Levy) a dental salesman with a very polite and sunny disposition goes to Detroit to give a speech at a convention. But once in Detroit he gets caught up in a case of mistaken identity when a weapons dealer mistakenly gives him a stolen gun, thinking that he is their "buyer". Andy immediately gets arrested and ends up having to chose between staying in a holding cell or helping Special Agent Derrick Vann (Samuel L Jackson), who has a less than sunny personality, catch the real buyer and the dealers. This film seem so underrated and unheard of that is it a crime! I found it absolutely hilarious the first time I saw it and I have watched it a few times since It has some good gags, a good story and some good acting. And even though there is some bad language and violence it is not too bad because Eugene's character actively tries to influence Jackson's character to be more polite LOL Here is a trailer:

Recommending Cold Comfort Farm.
It's based on the book by Stella Gibbons and it's just plain hilarious. Brilliant cast, full of lots of wit, humour and a dash of mystery and romance - I really don't know anyone who can watch this film and not fall in love with it.
Here's the trailer:

Recommending Music Of The Heart. It's based on a true story of a single mother (played by Meryl Streep) who teaches violin in a school in Harlem.

Darkest Hour is good, Three Boards Outside Ebbing Missouri is different and good.
