I knew Emma Watson was considered for La La Land and that Beauty and the Beast was nominated for best picture but lost to Silence of the Lambs, and I suspected the "girlfriend" in Home Alone wasn't a real girl, though I didn't know the rest.
I have to admit it was creepy to learn of the inspiration for Pennywise the Clown, just yesterday I saw a piece on the News of teenagers who dress up like clowns and scare kids on the street, even attack them. I used to think being scared of clowns was weird, but now I think I understand them.

Most interesting indeed, though I was aware that Beauty and the Beast was the first animated film nominated for Best Picture. I was alive when it happened and was sorely disappointed when it lost to Silence of the Lambs.
I was not aware of the lawsuit filed against Disney over the portrayals of hyenas in The Lion King. When that picture debuted, the big "controversies" surrounding that film at the time were a) that two of the villainous hyenas were voiced by minority actors (Whoopi Goldberg and Cheech Marin, the third hyena only laughed crazily and was voiced by veteran voice actor Jim Cummings) and b) a scene later in the film supposedly had the letters S-E-X in a dust cloud raised by Simba. It was in fact the letters S-F-X inserted by the FX technicians and animators.

I was going to read the link until I saw Pennywise was mentioned. I have coulrophobia, so that's a big nope, nope, nope.

LOL, it's fine. I just don't like looking at clowns. The word itself doesn't bother me all that much.
