This is an interesting article about the 10 best, biographical movies of all time. LINKI'm not familiar with any of these except for Laurence of Arabia, since my mom loved that film and talked about it often. What about you? Has anyone seen any or all of these? If so, what did you think? Tags: Keecha1996, disneyhead, LouiseX, boogum, imagineer, @nerdherder51, sockies1, ellyfant

Yes i've also seen Lawrence of Arabia and The Elephant Man both great films. If anyone else likes biographical movies (my favourite genre) I'd recommend The Prizewinner of Defiance Ohio which I watched over the weekend. Lighthearted, innocent and just such easy watching, a lovely movie

I recommend Music of the Heart, Finding Neverland and Ray. Walk the Line is also pretty good.

I have heard of a few of these, but actually haven't seen any. I don't normally seek out biographical movies, though most of the ones I have watched have been interesting. Some of the ones I really liked are Coco Before Chanel, The Social Network, Amadeus, The Pianist, Catch Me If You Can, The Fighter, The King's Speech, and Finding Neverland.

I'm not a big fan of bio movies only because they get them so wrong.
I watched "Walk the Line" because I'm a Johnny/June fan and I can point out all the things wrong with it because I've read all four of their autobiographies and it annoys me that they changed things like them having a physical affair versus just an emotional affair and just changing a bunch of lesser things. I thought "Ring of Fire" was better. There was some creative licensing there as there would be in any movie based on real life, but it stuck much more closely to their actual lives. I also thought the actress, Jewel, knocked it out of the park in playing June both in getting the accent and portraying the funny, spiritual side of her. Reese's performance lacked, I thought. But Joaquin Phonenix was an awesome Johnny Cash. He should have been the one to win an award for the portrayal. Johnny Cash had a hand in the screenplay for "Walk the Line" originally, but it became a much different movie after he died. I read one of his daughters has the original more factual script. I wish they'd done it the way the entertainers wanted. But I will say the love between them shines through in 'Walk the Line" nicely, so it's worth watching just for that.
In that vein, I do like movie bios where the person had a creative influence because I know it's made with respect to the person. Ones that I really enjoyed were the Loretta Lynn and Dolly Parton movies. "Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors" is so sweetly done as is the sequel. I'll also watch historical ones for the history of it though again if they left behind writing about themselves or someone who knew them did, and they don't follow it, I get annoyed. If you wanted a fictional movie, you should have made fictional characters. Done ranting lol.
